JOB DESCRIPTION

 PROJECT ENGINEER

BASIC FUNCTION:

To provide assistance to the Project Superintendent on a day to day basis in an effort to manage the field construction activities focusing on Safety, Quality Control, Schedule and Budget when located at a project site. If the Project Engineer is located in the office their role will be to provide assistance to the Project Managers.

JOB DUTIES:

When located at a project site:

  1. Provide leadership at the project site on a daily basis, coordinating subcontractors, material deliveries, and inspections and providing overall planning for a successful project.
  2. Foster harmonious working relationships with subcontractors, building inspectors, design team members and anyone else working on the projects.
  3. Have thorough and complete knowledge of the project plans and specifications and to enforce that these plan and specifications are being adhered to by subcontractors.
  4. Have understanding of subcontractors contractual scope work and to manage these contracts to minimize any risks to the budget.
  5. Enforce Drury Development’s Safety procedures in addition to OSHA requirements on a daily basis.
  6. Inspect work being completed on a daily basis and confirm that the work is being installed in a manner acceptable to Drury Development’s standards.
  7. Assist the Project Superintendent in the development and updating of 4 week look ahead schedules.
  8. Assist the Project Superintendent with the completion of all required documents such as Daily Reports, Weekly Safety Audits and the completion of Pre Activity Meetings.
  9. Send weekly updated progress photos to the Construction Administrator.
  10. Coordinate with local building authorities to ensure the project is meeting all permit requirements and that the building can achieve final certificate occupancy as timely and as efficiently as possible.
  11. Participate in weekly foreman meetings with the subcontractors discussing project safety, quality control and schedule.
  12. Coordinate material procurement with DI Supply so that materials are on site in a timely and efficient manner.
  13. Develop and manage the punch list at the end of each project.
  14. Coordinate with Drury Hotels throughout the hotel opening process so that the final product meets their approvals and ultimately our guest’s satisfaction.
  15. Provide DDC management of the job site when the Project Superintendent is offsite.

When located in the office:

  1. Assist the Project Managers with any tasks that may need handled including, contacting potential bidders, creating bid scopes, editing bid scopes, coordinate drawing releases, reviewing submittals, creating schedules and estimates.
  2. Assist the VP Construction or other Directors in anything that may be needed on miscellaneous projects.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. Reports to the Project Superintendent if located on a job site
  2. Reports to the Project Manager is located in the office..
  3. Cooperates with the design and DI Supply teams.
